Resident Evil fans have it good right now. A couple of recent critically acclaimed games under Capcom’s belt, another two games that we know of in development and now a TV show is in the works at Netflix.
Andrew Dabb (best known for his work on the TV show Supernatural) will be the showrunner on the hour-long eight-episode series. Dabb said Resident Evil is his favourite game of all time, and that we will see ‘a lot of old friends’.
The show is set in two separate time lines, one before a zombie apocalypse, one during, and will follow brand-spanking-new character Jade Wesker’s story throughout both. The show has the same production company as the movies, but is going to be set in its own universe.
The Netflix show could turn out to be terrible, but it would be stupid to judge it this early on, and not a lot of fun, so let’s throw a list of wishes at the wall and hope a couple stick!

So is that all it’s got going for it, that it’s cute and silly? That may be why you tried the game to begin with, but is that why you keep coming back to it? People who have never got a win are continuing to play right along the players with double digit crowns and a developing god complex. Are we all slaves to this cutesy Nintendo-esque escapism?
I think it’s a little more than that, though.

You’re running through caves, obnoxious armor clipping through vital organs, clanking like a bag of change.
You come to a sudden stop. You begin to perspire.
There’s a muddy brown cave to your left…but then there’s a muddy brown cave to your right. If you’re having a real tough time, there’s also a muddy brown cave directly ahead of you. Any one of them could be the right way to go, and finding the right way first time would be terrible.
What do you do?
Congratuations, you’re playing an RPG!
Also, sorry. You’re about to experience levels of stress that you will somehow convince yourself is enjoyment for the next 50+ hours.
